As an inaugural member of the Global Clean Water Desalination Alliance, H2OProfessionals was part of the team that drafted and presented a paper for reducing greenhouse gases attributable to desalination to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP21) in December 2015 in Paris.  More than 100 countries have signed on to the accord that includes a goal of phased switching from fossil fuel based to renewable energy for existing and future desalination facilities.
